Owner / Lead Engineer
Jonathan Venegas is a highly skilled sound engineer, studio owner, and live production technician based in Pomona, CA. With over 15 years of experience in music and audio, his background includes studio recording, live sound reinforcement, acoustics, and production management across a wide range of venues and projects.
His path began in high school, where he picked up the guitar and quickly immersed himself in the world of music. When his school band had too many guitarists, Jonathan pivoted—becoming the sound engineer for the group and ensuring their performances sounded exceptional week after week.
After high school, Jonathan founded his own band and built a recording studio from the ground up. The band rehearsed up to 25 hours a week for three years, a period that solidified his passion for sound, discipline, and craft.
That dedication led him to Sound Masters Recording School in Alhambra, CA, where he studied under Grammy-awarded engineer Francis Buckley. As he refined his technical skills, Jonathan also gained real-world experience working with bands such as Ninja Academy, and live sound companies such as Orchestrada Audio, recording studios such as California Sound Studios, and record labels such as Wright Records.
Jonathan also pursued formal music training at Mount San Antonio College, studying Jazz Guitar Performance. There, he met Umar Mausoof, and together they went on to co‑found Serene Sound Productions, which operates the largest Void Acoustics sound system in Southern California. Their systems have been deployed at major events such as Lightning in a Bottle, Same Same But Different, and the South Pasadena Eclectic Music Festival, earning a reputation for pristine audio quality and professional production.
Over the years, Jonathan has recorded and worked with a growing list of independent and emerging artists including Old Blood, Apolloson, Daydream Time Machine, and Funds for Jimmy—helping bands shape their sound both in rehearsal and in the studio.
In addition to his studio and festival work, Jonathan has built an extensive career in live production, working with over 20 different companies—including Goldenvoice and IATSE Local 614—in roles ranging from FOH engineer and crew chief to lead stagehand. He has supported live performances by legendary artists such as Tool, Metallica, AC/DC, and Guns N’ Roses, as well as electronic acts like The Chemical Brothers, The Glitch Mob, Pretty Lights, and Beats Antique.
